This project combines film, music, and code to bring music making to life.

There are over 1200 symphonies in the United States. Many musicians and listeners alike see their first live symphony at a community orchestra – and its part of their story today. This project is made by lovers of symphony orchestra for the orchestra.

Tringle of experiences

The Short Film

The Cinema Experience

Composer Chris Thomas and cinematographer Bradley Lanphear bring us a short story about how a symphony and child imagine a world together in a piece of music. Travel over diverse scenes while witnessing magical scenes involving over 35 musicians playing in some gorgeous outside scenery.

Extensive storyboards and hiking in the wilderness has given us a unique perspective on where musicians and listeners go during their adventures.

We want to capture various scenes including a forest, badlands, mountain, lake, and city.

The Interactive Experience

After the short story – the travel deeper into the mind of the composer and musicians as you explore each instrument.

The interactive experience will demonstrate the complex interplay of live players, allowing the user to interact independently with each player to explore the composition and each players individual style.

The Composition + Interactive Experience

Individual instruments can be triggered and collected on a mission to make your own music with Chris Thomas’s composition! Each musical instrument is bonded with a player’s personal story as well.

The composition will be recorded by the Central Oregon Symphony musicians individually and on set.

The Stories

The stories of the Orchestra

Community musicians have stories about when they got started and why they keep making music together with a busy life of family and work. Explore the instruments they play and the reasons behind the Central Oregon Symphony.

Ready to Launch Winter 2020

With filming, composition, and dozens of interviews, this project will take time. When completed, we’ll have an open source platform ready for you to follow.

In the meantime, follow our progress by receiving updates

Who Are We?

This project is a collaboration between the Central Oregon Symphony and 5 independent artists With over 60 musician volunteers, symphony has made our lives rich, and we wanted to create something that would help the people understand what a community symphony really is.

Support the project!

This project has the generous support of volunteers, but expenses related to travel, production, technology, and equipment to film and organize a cadre of volunteers do add up. We will only use funds to cover expenses, and any additional funds will be directly donated to the Central Oregon Symphony Association.
